BIKE BUYERS GUIDE

 Sidewalk
A child's first bike, these 12", 16" and 20" wheel bikes are great for beginner riders. 12" and 16" bikes come with training wheels, while kickstands are on 20" bikes.
 BMX Freestyle
20" wheeled BMX bikes designed for street riding. Freestyle bikes generally have 48-spoked wheels, strong front and rear brakes, plus a rotor and pegs to assist with performing stunts.
 BMX Race
20" wheeled BMX bikes designed for racing on dirt courses. Generally have single-speeds, knobby tires, rear hand brakes and are lightweight.
 Urban Assault
Bridge bike between BMX and Mountain. Tough jumping/street style bike without the confusion of 21 speeds and full suspension. Generally equipped with mutiple speeds, front disc brake, big tube aluminum frames and 24" wheels for use on multiple terrains.
 Downhill
Full-on aggressive beefy full suspension mountain bikes with that are designed to be ridden downhill on varied terrain. Downhill bikes generally have more than 6" of rear wheel travel and often have disc brakes
 Hardtail
MountainMountain bikes that have a front suspension fork and a rigid (non-suspension) frame with multiple speeds and knobby tires.
 Full Suspension
MountainMountain bikes for all-terrain use with multiple speeds and knobby tires which have frames that allow both the front and rear wheels to move and absorb shock when they hit an object.
 Road Bike (race)
Designed for use on hard surfaces, drop bar road bikes have skinny tires, lightweight frames and multiple speeds. Road bikes are the most efficient bicycles.
 Road Bike (flat bar)
Bikes designed for road use, flat-bar road bikes have a more comfortable, yet less-efficient upright riding position more similar to a mountain bike than a traditional drop bar road bike. Great for use on charity rides.
 Comfort
Bikes designed primarily for streets/paved trails with more comfortable upright riding position, suspension forks, soft grips, wider cushioned saddles and wide-range gearing. Comfort bikes generally use 26" wheels.
 Cruiser
Classic styling, fat tires and general simplicity set these bikes apart from others. Cruisers offer wide saddles, upright riding positions and wide swept-back handlebars
